St. John’s College wins The Music Project: High School Band Competition

St. John’s College won The Music Project: High School Band Competition on February 4, 2017. The competition comprised of twelve (12) school bands, from New Providence, Grand Bahama and Inagua. The band, Special Blend, includes Jodi Dorsett (Vocals), Aaron Springer (Alto Saxophone), Shanandon McKenzie (Trumpet), Christian Taylor (Bass Guitar), Ajani Lawrence (Drums), Tristan Sherman (Keyboard) and Darren Butler (Keyboard/Vocals) who is the band leader. These talented students were guided and instructed by Shavardo Bullard, Preston Ferguson and Luke Caley. Each band had a Bahamian artist as a mentor and Special Blend was mentored by Erica “Lady E” Symonette, who is an alumna of St. John’s College. Special Blend did an excellent job and their performance was one to be remembered.
