St. John’s College Solar Car Project

St. John’s College Solar Car Project is a STEM based initiative headed by Fr. Shazz Turnquest, a physics teacher at St. John’s. The project is a huge accomplishment for St. John’s College, for we are the first school in the region to be invited to compete in the Solar Car Challenge. The aim of the project is for students to build a car that runs off of solar energy, test that it is functional and ship it to Dallas, Texas where it will be raced against others just like it at the Texas Motor Speedway in July 2017. The students involved in the project are Justyn Sweeting, Richard Hanna, Munir Gharbharan, Ralph Sealy, Marcinko Arthur, Kevaughn Pratt, Giovannie Embleton, Delton Rolle, Dwayna Archer, Deniel Rolle, Darren Butler and Slade Seymour. Their goal is to raise $50,000 in order to get them to the competition. If you wish to assist in this endeavor, please contact the school to get more information on how you can help.
